Discontinued Products
7/24/2002 Duncan enterprises (our supplier whom we distribute for) has shaken up their whole product line. Here are some of the changes they have made: Duncan Acrylic and Non-Fired ColorTechnology has assisted us in development of a “super can do it all” acrylic that has allowed us to finally consolidate our two popular acrylic lines. Due to improvements in our base formula we have merged the NT Natural Touch Dry brushing Acrylic Palette into the OS Bisq-Stain Opaque Acrylics. Random consumer testing was conducted last fall using the new formula against existing OS and NT formulas and results overwhelmingly approved the new formulation over existing formulas, for coverage, clarity, brush ability and dry brushing. We found the new formula gave us color that was crisper, clearer and true.After the green light resulting from consumer testing we moved to create a more complete acrylic palette. The OS line being the most popular of our acrylic lines was selected as the host for the new and improved one-stop acrylic ceramic paint. The OS palette needed little adjustment as we worked to create the new palette, we added 11 favorite NT color values not seen in the OS line and we also converted a few popular OS colors available only in 1 oz. The OS “Rationalized Palette” includes Pale, Soft, Natural, Toned and Dark Color Values as before.Stains and Antiquing GelsThe most difficult of decisions with product line rationalization was to make the move away from the NS Natural Tint Translucent Stains product line and convert popular colors to the TS Oil-Based Translucent Stains. The TS line was first developed with the idea that it would replace the NS line, this move never transpired until today. In keeping in line with our goal to produce products that adhere to ASTM D-4236 Non-Toxic Standards we decided that it was time to make the move. Five of the most popular NS colors like the “Famed” Pecan Sparkle will be made available in the TS line with a new non-toxic formulation.The WG line is also getting a “face-lift” by adding three new metallic formulations and moving the Patina Green to a TS formula. Metallic are HOT and we are supporting this trend by extending our WG metallic offering. The remaining WG colors will be discontinued. The WG line will also convert to a 2oz squeeze bottle from the 2oz jar.Fired Glazes: Lead
Free Opaque, Translucent and Speckled Glaze Like with the underglaze offering we found a fantastic opportunity
to organize the palettes of our Envision fired color line.
The first and most obvious opportunity was to separate the
Translucent, Opaque and Speckled Offerings, making color selection
easier. The end result is
a complete Lead Free Glaze color offering.
Translucent
Envision Glaze was most complete line when separated from the Opaque
and Speckled offering, we found that we needed only two new colors to
complete the palette. The Opaque Envision line when separated from the
others was the line with obvious “holes” in the color offering; as
a result we developed 13 new colors to balance the Opaque palette.
The Speckled Envision colors were divided into two groups, Speckled with a clearer base and Flannel with a more matte base. Both of these palettes are what we would call “Fashion Palettes” colors are tied directly to trends in the market place and recommended by Color Marketing Group, CMG.
The only other change to our Non-Toxic Fired Color line was with the Sandstar Glazes with 8 discontinued colors. All other Non-Toxic Fired Color products remain the same. Duncan
Professional Fired Color
These
products are only for use by professional Ceramic Artists that know
how to properly use them in order to avoid injury or health risks.
These products conform to the ASTM – D4236 CAUTION seal, indicating
that the products in this line are properly labeled with information
on the safe and proper use of the product and have undergone a
toxicological evaluation by a medical expert to indicate any known
health risks resulting from improper use.
As with the Envision line, the opportunity to better represent colors by putting translucent with translucent and opaque with opaque was apparent with the GL Gloss Glaze and GO Gallery Opaque Glaze color lines. All GL Translucent colors will now be represented together. GL Opaque and the entire GO line will be represented together due to their similar characteristics. GO numbers will not change on the label.
